Lost in the World

Sometimes I think we don’t take enough time to get lost in the world. I’m not talking about that gentleman over there—yes, the one look confusedly at his iPhone and wondering for the umpteenth time why it’s confusing several different locations. I’m not talking about those hikers from Los Angeles who can’t figure out that the trail is, in fact, circular, and it’s not that their maps are wrong.

I’m talking about getting lost in the moment, in the music, in the laughter, in the love, in all the good and the beauty of the world.

When you let yourself focus, even for a moment, on only the good, the bad suddenly seems much more bearable. As long as you can recall how that good moment felt, you can be strong enough to defeat the bad moment.

In times of panic, recall how it feels to let a soothing piece of music envelop you.

In times of sadness, recall laughing with a friend, and why you were even laughing in the first place.

In times of depression, recall a friend’s arm around your shoulder, and know that you always have a shoulder to lean on.

And no matter how you are feeling, take a moment to step outside and see the vibrant colors and sounds of nature.

Take a moment to get lost in the world.
